Chocolater\u00eda San Gin\u00e9s<\/p><\/div>\n

After we got out of classes today, my friends Christy, Sam, Haley, and I decided to go on a churros tour of Madrid, trying to check out the three of the best places in the city. If you don’t know,\u00a0churros con chocolate<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is a traditional part of Spanish cuisine, often eaten for breakfast or as mid-morning\/midday snack. They’re pretty similar to the churros they serve in the United States, but are usually fresher and tastier and are served with either warm liquid chocolate, like a thicker hot chocolate, or caf\u00e9 con leche<\/em> for dipping.<\/p>\n

We only ended up making it to two out of our three stops because we got so full that we could barely move. Who’d have thought eating so much fried dough would make you tired?<\/p>\n

Our first stop was\u00a0Chocolater\u00eda Valor<\/a>\u00a0which was getting towards the expensive side, but the churros were big and delicious, perfectly cooked where they were a little crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chocolate was a little thinner than we would’ve liked, but we were definitely happy with our purchase.<\/p>\n

Chocolater\u00eda San Gin\u00e9s<\/a>, our next stop, probably represents what most people think of when they think of the famous chocolater\u00edas of Madrid. It’s not very far from Sol, the center of Madrid, and it’s often packed during busy hours with huge lines of tourists waiting to get their churros. Sam and Christy liked this one better, but Haley and I preferred Valor’s churros. The chocolate here was thicker and a little sweeter, but the churros were thinner and more like American ones. Either way, neither chocolater\u00eda really disappointed us and we ate enough that we decided to save the other one for another day.<\/p>\n
